“Qahwa ‘Al Mafraq” Launches with a First Session That Exceeded Expectations

We intended it to be an experimental first session, but the number of people eager to take part exceeded our expectations. Many activists and people from a wide range of professional backgrounds joined us. Yet what mattered most was not the names or professions, but the many diverse and interconnected ideas that emerged during the session.

The discussion ranged from the kind of homeland many participants dream of, to the meaning of homeland and citizenship, and to exploring the differences between the concepts of homeland, state, and government.

Differences of opinion were present, and they were an essential part of the dialogue, but disagreement was absent. The session was therefore a model of what we hope to achieve: coming together and engaging in a rich dialogue, away from vague slogans, preconceived positions, and populism.

Because “Qahwa ‘Al Mafraq” is a space that welcomes questions before answers, and different ideas before preconceived positions, we will meet again in 15 days for a new topic, which we will announce in the coming days.

Perhaps the next question will be the one that is on your mind too.

☕ Qahwa ‘Al Mafraq… a space for dialogue, every 15 days.
